How to stay productive during Ramadan
Marwa Al Krad | 31 March 2022
During the holy month of Ramadan, many of us tend to lose our productivity. This can happen due to not getting our regular intake of caffeine, nicotine, not having our morning breakfast, or having fewer sleeping hours. It doesn’t matter how long you have been experiencing fewer productivity levels during Ramadan. If you follow a few steps and take them seriously, you will absolutely see a difference.
1. Plan and prioritize
Planning is always a good idea! planning your day ahead and prioritizing tasks will enable you to make sure you finish the important ones first. It will also help you pass through your day smoothly without worrying about what to do until iftar time.
2. Stay Hydrated
Since we are fasting all day, we have to offset that loss during the night. Always make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water during the night. Not that only, but also try to avoid spicy and salty food as much as you can, especially at Suhoor.
3. Stick to a healthy diet
We all love the variety of food we get at Iftar feasts and it’s not easy to resist it. In order to maintain your productivity after the meals (suhoor or iftar), try your best to eat only the amount your body is used to. Keeping a healthy diet as well is as important. A full of sugar and fats diet will definitely have an impact on your sleeping mode.
4. Stop looking at the time while fasting
Although this might sound not much helpful, it actually has an effect on how long your day feels. Get busy finishing your work and following your plan for the day. Avoid looking at the time when it’s not necessary. Time will fly when you are not focusing on how fast it’s going.
5. Adjust Your Sleeping Hours
Due to all the changes, we experience in Ramadan with regard to meals timings, working hours, and prayers, it’s helpful to have a look at your new schedule for Ramadan and decide how to fit in 7 to 8 hours of sleep every day. Taking a nap during the day if possible might be also helpful. It all depends on your schedule but the main point is to maintain enough amount of sleep.
6. Stay positive and stop complaining
Believe it or not, your attitude matters. How you welcome the month and how you feel about the day make a huge difference. If you keep thinking about how tired and sleepy you are, you will be!
